What is fine-dining?

When we are looking for the definition of fine-dining we will find the following axioms about it:

„Fine dining restaurants, also referred to as white-tablecloth restaurants, are typically higher-end and fancier restaurants. As opposed to casual eateries, cafes or family-style restaurants, fine dining caters to an upscale clientele and provides the highest quality of food.
A fine dining restaurant has a formal atmosphere, is almost always a sit-down restaurant, and has a fancier menu than most restaurants. Fine dining restaurants offer wine lists and sometimes sommeliers to help you with your food and wine pairing. Important to mention that they also have dress codes in most cases.

We all remember the restaurant scene from the movie As good as it gets when the main character Melvin (Jack Nicholson) forgot his suit and he had to buy a new one just to enter the place:

The portions at a fine dining restaurant may also be smaller than at a more casual or family-style restaurant, but the food will generally be of a higher quality.
Finally, we have to mention that fine dining restaurants tend to be on the high-priced side. „

Why is service such important at these exceptional restaurants?

There are two key drivers when a customer is choosing between restaurants: ambience and price. The only factor what a restaurant can influence is the atmosphere what impacts the guests.

There are several components of the atmosphere, but the crucial part what customers experience first is the service: creating a fine-dining atmosphere all comes from details.

My vision

Working two years at the famous Jamie Oliver’s restaurant in Budapest let me bring to perfection the professional knowledge of service and related tasks. I had experienced a unique and international ambience within my colleagues and guests. I understood the importance of the standards and values of the restaurant which brought success for me and the whole team. I believe that achieving success in this profession is mandatory to have discipline and enthusiasm towards to your restaurant. Therefore, I felt the need to start my own service to share my experience and expertise.

WAYS TO MAKE YOUR SERVICE EXTRORDINARY

No matter what a restaurant represents, servers should be at their best. A well-educated  and committed fine-dining waiter must be able to explain the entire menu without any help, also tag emotional counsels to the guest.

It’s about sharing knowledge and helping the customer as much as they can. Servers should have a wide knowledge of bar menu, from the newest wines to the most creative cocktails.

But it’s not only about professional knowledge, but your colleagues must also be excellent communicators as well: they should know how to welcome their guests, when to come to the table and when to leave it to let them enjoy the ambience, the excellent food and each other company.

And if  your guest’s experience is memorable it will pay off different ways: first of all  sure that they will return to your place, they will share their experience with their family, friends and colleagues and they will try out your restaurants too and they will spread their experiments with five stars reviews on different social media platforms as well.
